Tales of The Protectors Second Rising
Tale 23: New Power, Part 1
Aug 24, 2005
I woke up in the airship a day later. Casey was sitting next to me and Rafael and some other guy where sitting up on beds near me. Casey noticed me open my eyes and hugged me. I asked her what happened. She said that after her and Rafael found Rex they went to look for me and found me passed out, about to be consumed by flames. I said thank you for saving me and I kissed her. Rafael walked over and cleared his throat. I looked up and told him he had to stop that. He laughed and ask me what I do if he didn’t. We all laughed, including the man standing with him.
The man handle out his hand and introduced himself as Rex and said that he had heard a lot about me. I shook his hand and told him my name and said I heard a lot about him as well. Now that I was awake, we were able to get down to business. Rex said that know that the base in Nimbasa had been destroyed, they needed to find a new place to hide out and restart. However, no one knew a good place. Then I thought of a place, a place that always seems to be there when needed. We all headed towards Banorial.
On the way to Banorial, Rafael and I explained everything that happened since him and Rex had been separated. Rex grew very concerned at the fact the Siefer had actually completely merged with Gengora. He said that we had to move quicker than he anticipated. When we arrived in Banorial, Rex wasted no time in getting all of the electricity up and running. Casey was amazed at Banorial, its size, the fact that electricity could work, and at the broken pieces of the statue in the middle. Flashes of the battle with Jenis came to my head. Casey asked if I was okay and I said yeah, just some bad memories. Rex called us all around the screens he had set up. We were finally going to find out what Rex’s plan to get to Siefer was.
Rex told us that Siefer had become a lot more powerful than he original was and that the ticking time bomb that he was was about to explode. Now that he had become that powerful, there was only one thing that can stop him now. That’s when he looked at me. Me? How can I stop him? He said that I have the powers of “the weapon” from the prophecy, powers he now named Heroic Mode. I told him that I had already tried that and I could barely scratch him. He told me that’s because I haven’t fully unlocked its power and the key to doing it was right here. He pointed towards the broken statue. How could that help me unlock anything?
I looked closer at the statue and there was one piece of the statue that was fully in tact, the orb that she was holding. Rex told me that I had to go and grab that orb, and Casey had to go with me. I told him no, I wasn’t dragging her into anything more than I already have. These powers were still a complete mystery to me and therefore something dangerous thaI couldn’t expose her to. She grabbed my arm and said that she wanted to go. She had that determination face on, so I couldn’t say no.
How did Rex know all about this though? Either way, this seemed like the right thing to do. Rafael and Rex watched as Casey and I found a way to cross the water to the rubble of the statue. When we reached it, Casey asked what we were suppose to do now. I thought about for a second. Why would Casey need to be here for this? I looked at her and she looked beautiful standing here with me. It always made my body feel strange, like there was build up of power waiting to be unleashed. The orb started to glow. Rex yelled for me to grab it now. So I grabbed it and the world around me began to change.
I wasn’t in Banorial anymore, I was in some strange world that was filled with, well, nothing. Just a bunch of nothingness. Now what do I do?
